The paper template Paper templates are in simple text files, like all templates, that have a .rdf extension. The rest of the file name doesn't matter. These files needs to be in the series' six letter directory. You can put all templates in one files, or one per file, or group them in files in various ways. Do whatever best suits your needs. Let us have a look at a typical template: Template-Type: ReDIF-Paper 1.0 Author-Name: Daniel Rais Author-Name-First: Daniel Author-Name-Last: Rais Author-Name: Peter Lawater Author-Name-First: Peter Author-Name-Last: Lawater Author-Email: p.lawater@grandiose.edu Author-Workplace-Name: Department of Economics, Grandiose University Author-Name: Jonathan Goldman Author-Name-First: Jonathan Author-Name-Last: Goldman Author-Workplace-Name: Department of Finance, Grandiose University Author-Name: Zhiwei Chui Author-Name-First: Zhiwei Author-Name-Last: Chui Title: Phases of Imitation and Innovation in a North-South Endogenous Growth Model Abstract: In this paper, we develop a North-South endogenous growth model to examine three phases of development in the South: imitation of Northern products, imitation and innovation and finally, innovation only. In particular, the model has the features of catching up (and potentially overtaking) which are of particular relevance to the Pacific Rim economies. We show that the possible equilibria depend on cross-country assimilation effects and the ease of imitation. We then apply the model to analyse the impact of R&D subsidies. There are some clear global policy implications which emerge from our analysis. Firstly, because subsidies to Southern innovation benefit the North as well, it is beneficial to the North to pay for some of these subsidies. Secondly, because the ability of the South to assimilate Northern knowledge and innovate depends on Southern skills levels, the consequent spillover benefits on growth make the subsidising of Southern education by the North particularly attractive. Length: 26 pages Creation-Date: 1996-07 Revision-Date: 1998-01 Publication-Status: Published in Review of Economics, March 1999, pages 1-23 File-URL: ftp://ftp.grandiose.edu/pub/econ/WorkingPapers/surrec9602.pdf File-Format: Application/pdf File-Function: First version, 1996 File-URL: ftp://ftp.grandiose.edu/pub/econ/WorkingPapers/surrec9602R.pdf File-Format: Application/pdf File-Function: Revised version, 1998 Number: 9602 Classification-JEL: E32, R10 Keywords: North-South, growth model, innovation assimilation Handle: RePEc:aaa:wpaper:9602 Mandatory are: Template-Type:, Author-Name:, Title: and Handle:. More details: Author-*: cluster This cluster is repeatable, just make sure each cluster starts with Author-Name:, which is the only required field of this cluster. Put each author in a different cluster. Author-Name should contain only the name, either as Firstname Lastname or Lastname, Firstname. The Author-Name-*: fields are used by Econlit for the select working paper series also carried by this service. Abstract: While not mandatory, it is highly beneficial to have an abstract. It makes it more likely for the paper to be found in a search. Note that it is possible to cut-and-paste from pdf files, so you do not need to type everything yourself. More about this in the FAQ for maintainers. Publication-Status: If you want to make aware where this paper is published use this field. It needs to start with Published in or with Forthcoming in. Creation-date:, Revision-date: It is strongly recommended to have at least a Creation-Date: field. This allows RePEc services to display items chronologically. Undated items are typically put at the bottom of the lists, or may be ignored entirely. The format of the date is: yyyy or yyyy-mm or yyyy-mm-dd or yyyymm or yyyymmdd. The date is the date the paper was written, not the date the template was added. File-*: cluster If the paper is not available online, ignore the cluster entirely. If you need to withdraw a paper from the database, do not delete the template, delete the File-*: cluster. Note that this cluster is repeatable. Classification-JEL: Use the Journal of Economic Literature codes from this list. It is highly recommended to use them for increased exposure of the paper. Avoid using top levels of the classification, try to be more specific. Length: The number of pages the document would have if printed. Handle: This uniquely identifies the paper. It consists of your RePEc handle, the series handle, and then paper number (which must be unique). There are additional fields you may consider using, if relevant: File-Restriction: In the File-*: cluster, use this if the file cannot be freely downloaded, and this was not specified in the series template. Note: Put anything you deem relevant that did not fit elsewhere here. Article-Handle:, Chapter-Handle:, Book-Handle:, Software-Handle: If the paper was published as an item already in RePEc, you can link the two here. Software-Handle: applies if there is some code accompanying the paper that is also made available. DOI: If have a DOI for the paper, you can display it here. Note that if you already have your bibliographic metadata in some database, you may want to take advantage of some existing scripts that can help you convert the data. See this blog post. You are now ready to open your RePEc archive.
